Howdy! This is Marc doing the writing this year. On behalf of the rest of the gang I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and a most excellent day of bowl-game watching January 1st!
Looking back on the past year, I can’t recall much of anything happening before June 11th. David Andrew was born at around 8:30 a.m. that day, an event that launched us back into the perilous waters of infant-raising!
A note for those of you who were not informed directly, as I was on several occasions: David weighed in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was in possession of a 13 cm head (no doubt due to his need for a larger-than-average cranial cavity).
Mitch and Jake have taken to the little pupa pretty well; they can often be relied on to entertain him for tens of seconds at a time! David already is looking up to them and likes to grin and drool at them just as much as he does at his providers.
We all took a trip up to Mom and Tom’s place in August. Mitch, Jake and I had many “great adventures†there including wading in a stream with real live minnows and baby frogs and everything. We also went fishing in the pond with Grandpa Tom. Tom and I both caught giant catfish that the boys were afraid to touch (but not to eat). Mitch and Jake were able to cast their own lures into the water, just like Monica’s Dad showed them, and nobody even got hooked!
Since then things have settled down considerably because Monica was in school 3 nights a week this past semester. In other words, I had 3 chances a week to realize that I’m not cut out to be a Mommy!
Mitch and Jake go to a pre-school program over at the local high school 3 mornings a week when school is in. They are watched by the teenagers as part of a class (and 1 actual teacher) and call the big kids “Miss Tammy†and whatnot. In a preview of things to come, Mitch’s teacher’s name (according to him) is “Nagâ€! It’s Meg, really, but he got the general idea down on his first day of school!
As far as the adults go, I am still working at FERA doing Visual Basic development and will get the all-important 3rd week of vacation in March. Monica is getting close to having half of the hours for a degree and will probably apply to Texas A&M or U of Houston this year.
