B/CS Half Summary

Mitch was at Fort Hood for some training this month and came over to run the BCS half marathon with me.

Background: I’d hoped to run the full race again and did some pretty good training runs in Oct and Nov. But I overdid it around Thanksgiving and ended up on the IR for the 10 days before the race. Meanwhile, Mitch was busting his hump over at the base and had to pull an all-nighter a couple of days ago.

Drum roll…

We finished in 1:58:57, unofficial, beating the goal time of 2 hours.

Not either of our best times, but a good effort on a pretty cold day. We had 2-3 inches of snow a couple of days ago. 30 degrees at the start = 3 layers. It didn’t get too warm but I was still down to my t-shirt again by the end.

No pic, sadly. We kind of got the stink eye from the guys at the finish line for being “bandits” and had to beat it out of the party zone.

This is a good race and I’d like to be official again. I just don’t like to commit to a race 6 months in advance not knowing what my fitness level will be. But maybe next year.
