The Allentown House

We lived just north of Houston for 12 years, including 6 in the house at 6403 Allentown. This is what our old home looks like today in the midst of Hurricane Harvey:

Like many Houstonians, we got through Tropical Storm Allison with a near-miss. Thinking Harvey couldn’t be any worse, I underestimated just how much water a storm could drop on a county.

As a point of reference, the foundation of our house is about 4 feet above street level and the water is another 4 feet above that in this picture. Our neighbors’ house to the left is a single-story and sits somewhat lower. Not good.
